An den internationalen Schulen in Bengalore haben die Sommerferien begonnen und dauern bis Mitte August. Daher sind die meisten Expats mit Kindern in ihre Heimatländer entfleucht. Also natürlich vornehmlich die Frauen, denn die Männer müssen ja arbeiten. Das Clubhaus wirkt jetzt wie ausgestorben. Super, dachten Gerd und ich, dann haben wir den Pool an diesem Sonntag ja für uns. Und so war es auch. Kein Mensch im und am Wasser weit und breit. Also schnell rein ins kühle Nass. Als wir es uns danach ganz entspannt auf der Liege gemütlich machen wollten, kamen zwei Menschen auf uns zu und ermahnten uns streng, dass im Pool das Tragen von Bademützen Pflicht sei – aus Respekt vor den anderen Badenden! Wohlgemerkt wir waren die Einzigen. „Was wohl passiert, wenn ich mich nicht dran halte?“ fragte ich Gerd. „Na, nix! Das ist wie wenn du Weihnachtsmann in die Liste am Eingang schreibst statt Lösch oder Abel.“

Als nächstes kam der Bademeister, der bisher unter einem Baum Siesta gehalten hatte. Ja, es gibt hier einen Bademeister, obwohl es nur ein Planschbecken, ein Nichtschwimmerbecken und ein Schwimmerbecken, in dem man überall stehen kann, gibt. Der Rettungsschwimmer ging Richtung seines Stuhls. „Wenn der sich jetzt da hoch setzt, brech ich vor Lachen zusammen“; sagte mein Mann. Aber der Bademeister tat uns nicht den Gefallen, sondern drehte den Stuhl von uns weg und überließ seinem Freund die Beobachtung der leeren Becken.

Dann wollten wir ein Weilchen in der Sonne dösen. Die kommt jetzt spärlicher hinter den Wolken hervor, weil der Monsun bevorsteht. Daher muss man jede Gelegenheit nutzen. Kaum hatten wir die Augen zu, kamen wieder mehrere Menschen und hielten direkt hinter unseren Liegen ein lautstarkes Schwätzchen – und säuberten dabei ihre stinkenden Mülleimer. Wohlgemerkt, der ganze Poolbereich war leer bis auf uns Zwei! Die hätten auch an einer anderen Ecke hocken können, aber nein… Wieder ein Beispiel für incredible India!
